![]() About Rainne: Rainne is actually a pseudonym -- or pen name, if you will. (Okay, more like an alias since I'm giving my identity away!) My real name is Stephanie Shimerdla. Rainne's just easier to remember! I've been an artist for several years now, and have another website, where I had been displaying all of my works up until now. I've had a really hard time narrowing down my subject matter and finding a niche. But I've decided that Fantasy and Nature related artworks are the way to go. I'll still be doing a few aviation paintings (partially because my husband is a military pilot, and so I've got an advantage for selling those!), but those will remain at my other website (www.ObsidianDawn.com , for any interested that aren't familiar with me already!) And now, down to the nitty gritty. I was born in September of 1974 in Rutland, VT. I grew up in Sarasota, FL, and graduated from Riverview High School in 1992. After developing allergies to animals in the beginning of my work toward my Veterinary degree, I left college for some time while trying to re-think my major. I didn't finish up school until after getting married to my "dream guy" (yes, ladies, they do exist!). My hubby is a helicopter pilot in the US Military. My major was in Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics. I know. Odd, eh? An artist with a Computer Science/Mathematics degree? I truly enjoyed artwork in high school, but lost touch with my artistic side entirely. I didn't take any courses in artwork throughout college, and haven't taken any since. I am completely self-taught, other than what I learned in high school (which is pretty "fuzzy," let me tell ya!) I started painting again about 5 years ago, when I followed my husband over to his duty station in South Korea. In the turmoil of emotions that ensued, due to being immersed in a land where hardly anyone could speak my language and being halfway around the world from everyone that I love (except one!), I decided to try painting again. It was a great way to express some of those emotions, and was great therapy. And in so doing, I finally realized what I had lost by losing touch with my artistic side! I've been painting on and off ever since. I also make Photoshop and Scrapbooking Resources, as well as some Graphic Design. About the paintings: All of Rainne's artwork is painted in Corel Painter and/or Adobe Photoshop. It is painted using a Wacom Intuos tablet. I have plans on creating and posting some tutorials, once I get a few more pieces together in my portfolio. |
